The "ah-ha" moments are the absolute best. I enjoy the time spent with my students, and have the patience, knowledge, understanding, and resources to help them learn in their own individual ways. We will have fun learning with pictures, props, changing voices, manipulatives and exercises. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, scuba diving, and buying more education paraphernalia to ensure that I have something I can use to meet an individual's learning needs. The younger students (and the older ones too) will get to meet my puppets. These friendly characters help provide a comfortable and fun atmosphere while giving the students visuals when necessary. In a class of 21 first grade students (11 behavioral students) that were between the levels of immediate intervention - approaching, and 3 that were too low to score, I worked with the students in a fun and engaging way to learn math. Within 3 months, their scores jumped to approaching - 3rd grade levels. The entire class met or exceeded their annual progress goals. This was also accomplished in 2 other classrooms (1st & 3rd).
I have been teaching ESOL students in China (online) for almost 2 years. I only open 20-25 openings per week, and they are always full. I am certified for TESOL/TESOL Advanced and teach beginning levels (never spoke a word of English) all the way up to Level 7 (focus on the major ELA academics in English). I am also certified in and teach: Vocabulary, Reading, Phonics, From Words to Sentences, Grammar Beginning and Advanced, Free Talk, and a subject called Story Time.
