"My name is Robert. I am a graduate of Kent State's Middle Childhood Education teaching program. My certifications are in 4-9 Social Studies, Language Arts, and Foundations of Reading. Tutoring and teaching are new to me, however, I am confident that you will find my approach easy to learn from.

Tutoring is a way for me to fulfill my passion of helping students achieve their dreams. I also understand that some students may struggle to understand these subjects. Therefore, I want to provide a relaxed approach to learning that may help them cross learning barriers. Learning does not have a set path; therefore, I look forward to helping you discover your path to success

Helping students find their inner writers voice makes me a great English Language Arts tutor. Students who struggle in this area have a difficulty putting their thoughts on paper. By helping students find and develop their inner voice, students begin to grow as better readers and writers. I also believe that reading and writing work together. I want students to possess the skills to read a passage then transfer their thoughts on paper to summarize or make inferences about that passage.

I have a passion for teaching Social Studies and history. I have had the opportunity through the military to visit many of the places I get to teach about. I think the important thing to remember when teaching history is that you must make it exciting. Many times, we hear the stories of famous people retold in class. What many teachers do not do is make connections between that person and the individuals that we teach. It is important for me to show the connections between the history and the present. Another strong quality of mine is that I try to explain the events surrounding the main event. Time and testing force us to rush our lessons. These restrictions force us to miss the events that made the memorable event important. Through my tutoring, I hope to give detail and intrigue so that my student will want a deeper understanding of the events.
