"Hey, my name is Sam! I graduated from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor's in Economics and Sociology and a minor in Math. While in college, I was on the President's List for multiple years and received a major GPA of 3.9. I was a TA for our econometrics course for 2.5 years where I taught students how to use STATA (our statistical package of choice) and how to apply it to undergraduate econometrics. I designed new assignments and worked very closely with students with the goal of making STATA and econometrics accessible. Now, I work for the Federal Reserve where I continue to build up my statistical knowledge every day.
I know econometrics can be a scary class (even the name sounds scary!), but it really can be exciting to learn the new tools that this class and STATA can offer you. As a TA in college, I loved watching students come in timid and end up, after just twelve weeks, writing high-quality research projects of their own. You can do that, too, and I want to help.
As your tutor, I am happy to answer questions, give you exercises, or even get you started with STATA and econometrics. I have a "getting started" presentation with Stata that I have found students often appreciate, and I am happy to present it to you if you are interested. I can also give a quiz if you would like. Really, it's your time, and I want to use it however is most helpful for you.
Drop me a line with questions or to get started with tutoring. I want you to succeed!" less...
