"Hello Students,

My name is Nagel and I am an instructional aide in a middle school. I currently attend Grand Canyon University. I will be finished in 2018 with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education with an emphasis in math, the reason why I chose to go to school was because I feel like it is my calling in helping students succeed. Before I started working at the middle school, I worked at a daycare and I was the Pre-k teacher. Since starting college I have made the Dean's and President's list. I created lesson plans based on the high reach learning program that fit the students ages 3-5. This year will be my 6th year working in the school district as and instructional aide, and it is the best job that I have had and is the reason why I chose to go back to school and get my degree in Elementary Education. Being an aide means that I am always helping students in the classrooms with what they need help with or simply don't understand. I have been nominated at work as staff member of the month because I go above and beyond in ensuring that my students get all the help they need when they do not understand something.

Tutoring to me means more that just teaching a concept that one may not understand; it is being able to connect with the student which will help them succeed. Being an aide has given me the knowledge and resources that I need that will guide me when tutoring a students. What I love about tutoring is that the student is able to have that one on one time and get the help they need. Just knowing that I am helping someone grow and understand a concept that they didn't before makes every thing worth it in the end. Being a tutor to me means that I am the one that is going to teach the student and help them understand and hopefully be able to help another person who may have the same problem.
