"Teaching high school is my second career. After working in industry for almost 20 years, I decided to change careers and help young people get as excited as I am over science. I have been teaching for 16 years now. I have enough education credits for a second Masters degree but it is not financially responsible for me to get the degree (I don't get paid more at school so I don't want to spend the money to do this) !

My teaching experience includes working with students that have IEPs and learning disabilities all the way through to AP biology students. I love Biology and have taught that class every year since starting teaching. I have also taught Comparative Anatomy, Geophysical Science (general chemistry/physics), Earth and Space Science, and Human Anatomy/Physiology. All high school level.

I am a firm believer in teaching students to the way they learn. I try to include oral, visual, and hands-on exercises so that the student can learn in the way they best understand.

My favorite student to tutor is the struggling student. It is very satisfying to see 'the light bulb go on over the student's head'.

Lastly, regarding standardized tests: I have attended conferences regarding NJ mandated standardized tests. I have proctored more state mandated tests than I prefer to recall.
