"Hello, my name is Julia and I'm excited to potentially work with you! I have a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, with a minor in microbiology, from Clemson University. During my time as an undergraduate, I took multiple advanced-level classes within the biology and microbiology departments. I have a passion for leading and learning, also serving in an executive position of my sorority. In this position I was a leader for the other women in my chapter and represented my sorority at University-sponsored events. During my upperclassman years in university, I was a member of the Greek Honor Society for those with high academic ranking (Order of Omega). This organization is made up of the top 5% of the Greek community based on GPA.
I graduated university within the past five years, so my knowledge of biology, microbiology, and anatomy is fresh in my brain and up to date with current findings. I currently work in the biopharmaceutical industry, so I am constantly surrounded by the sciences, furthering my knowledge and exposure to the subject every day. Specifically, I work to market and communicate scientific concepts and product characteristics to both those with scientific backgrounds and those with limited prior knowledge. Through my experience, I have learned the art of taking complicated science topics and themes and teach them in a way that can be easily absorbed. I have experience in the past tutoring students with ages ranging from 12-21. I have tutored students in my local middle school and high school on science and math subjects. In university, I tutored my peers within my collegiate organizations on different biology, microbiology, and anatomy concepts. I truly believe getting excited about science is the first step to understanding it. My ultimate goal is to translate this excitement into my tutoring approach and make science fun!" less...
