"Hello, I have a master's in applied mathematics and a bachelor's of science in mathematics. I am an experienced tutor who enjoys helping others feel better about math. I am also a native Spanish speaker. I have been tutoring off and on since I was in community college all the way through my master's program. The topics I have the most experience tutoring are college algebra, precalculus, combinatorics, and calculus 1 and 2. I've been told multiple times that I am very patient and I am proud of that. My goal is to help you get through whatever topic you are confused about and I genuinely enjoy the look of new found understanding that students can have.
I am knowledgeable, calm, understanding, patient and have a lot of experience explaining mathematical topics in a variety of ways. When I worked at a tutoring lab as an undergraduate most of the students that came in needed help with college algebra, which is a combination of algebra 2 and precalculus, and statistics. As a graduate student I ran multiple calculus 1 and 2 labs where I explained calculus problems to a class then went around to help individual students. I would give a small quiz at the end and that helped me understand what mistakes a lot of students make under pressure. I have conducted research in number theory as an undergraduate and research in combinatorics as a graduate student. This is why I feel very comfortable tutoring any discrete math. I have also worked with children of all ages this past year and have come to enjoy it.
I hope that we are able to work together so that we can get you where you want to be academically. I know that sometimes a little one on one help makes a big difference. My goal is for all my students to succeed and I look forward to having you as a student. :)
