"My name is Molly and I am a licensed middle and high school math and science teacher with seven years of classroom teaching experience and over 15 years of tutoring experience in a multitude of subjects (focusing on chemistry, algebra, middle school science, and pre-calculus). I worked as a middle school math and science teacher before accepting my current position as a science instructor at the Junior Museum and Zoo, through which I bring science lessons to local elementary schools.
My passion for education began in college, where I worked as a Teaching Assistant for introductory Spanish and Psychology college courses and Algebra high school courses. I taught Italian at a local elementary school and tutored math, science, and English in the US and Spain. In 2012 I had the opportunity to live in Guatemala and teach English as a Second Language to elementary and middle school students. Later, I used the skills I acquired to teach English to students of all ages in Asia.
I graduated with a BA from Bowdoin College and later received my Master's in Secondary Education from Simmons. Since graduating with my Master's I have acquired more than 30 credits in continuing education and am always working to improve my teaching methods.
I am a forever learner and enthusiastically describe myself as a nerd for all things STEAM. I love bringing math and science to life for my students by providing them with impactful and memorable experiences that promote understanding rather than memorization. It is my firm belief that students must be active participants interacting with their education, not simply empty vessels to be filled with memorized information. Past students praise my enthusiasm, patience, positive attitude, and ability to simplify complex topics." less...
