"I am licensed to teach in multiple subject areas. I've taught both general education and special education. I have taught at a religious school as well as secular schools; American schools and a foreign school (Thailand); private schools and public schools. I've taught innocents and I've taught felons! What I have learned through these experiences is that educational challenges exist in all environments, and teaching is teaching regardless of the environment. In addition to professional employment as a teacher, I have spent years tutoring students of all ages through both private and voluntary entities, and typically my students will make at least 1 year's growth within 16 sessions.
I believe in the power of manipulatives and real-world connections to aid in learning math concepts. Additionally, repetition unquestionably supports learning, so verbal and written practice will be required!
I love words! I love the power of language to shape our experiences, and that passion is evident in my approach to teaching.
A successful tutoring relationship is like any interpersonal connection: compatibility, cooperation, and conscience. You will share what it is you need, and I will honestly evaluate my ability to meet those needs. If we come to an agreement and continue to evaluate and share through-out our time together, we will be successful." less...
