"I have a lifetime of experience to help you. My undergraduate degree is in Human Ecology, which means, an interdisciplinary approach to library arts. This makes me a bit of a Renaissance man, who is interested in a bit of everything. With over 20 years of working with young college students in an academic library, I can really help with research. From getting started to really digging deep into a subject, I know how to choose a topic, do research, find sources, and cite them. I have lots of experience with many different databases and tons of great information sources. Also I recently completed my Master of Library and Information Science degree, so I can relate to the many pressures of being a modern student too. Because of my many years of library experience, I find that working together, one-on-one, is the best ways to succeed.
For the past 12 years I have organized a National History Day contest. So I have lots of experience with topic selection, research, and presentation. I have judged papers, posters, movies, plays, and websites, so we can work together in many areas. Choosing a topic that fits the assignment is a big key to success, so see what you can do well within the limits. Primary research, the finding of first-hand documents, is another key, so my library work is very handy. Putting everything together into a clean and clear package is the last key and since I have seen so many projects, I am an expert. While we may not work on a contest entry, all three of these keys are a solid foundation to many different projects.
I am also a life-long learner, so I hope to gain knowledge and understanding right beside you. Right away I can tackle many of the arts, history, and creative projects. However I'm always excited to help and to learn something new. Math isn't my strongest area, but I do love all kinds of learning. I'm a quick and amazing researcher. I can patiently work with you on many projects. Let's see how far we can go together!" less...
