"Hi! My name is Linda; in the picture above, I am doing my needlework, with my magnifier around my neck. I live in Beaumont, TX, and would like to tutor anywhere in the Golden Triangle area. I was a National Merit Scholar in high school and am a member of the collegiate honor societies Phi Kappa Phi (all fields), Psi Chi (psychology), and Sigma Theta Tau (nursing), and Eta Sigma Gamma (health). I received the Lake Charles Forty-and-Eight Veterans' Club Scholarship, the Leroy E. Dettman Scholarship, the Good Samaritan Foundation Scholarship, and the Mary Frances Dishman Sherlock Endowed Scholarship. I graduated from the University of Michigan with high distinction and with honors in linguistics and anthropology, and I graduated from Lamar University with my BSN--I am a registered nurse by profession. I have also completed my Master of Science in Public Health at Lamar and would like to do nursing research.
I have been a tutor since high school, and have tutored in a number of areas--French, English, statistics, biology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, psychology, sociology, and nursing courses. At Casper College, I was both a Peer Tutor and a tutor for the athletic department, and I have also tutored for Emergency Consultants with students who were completing their RN credential through independent study. I have a strong background in a number of areas--math and science, social science, and arts and humanities. My first love is needlework and I have a multiplicity of other interests--scuba diving, travel, astronomy, reading, and other pursuits as well.
I am flexible about methods and am willing to tailor my approach to the needs of the individual student. I have found that it often helps simply to talk over the subject matter and to illustrate it in a way that makes sense to the student. I am also willing to read through papers and offer suggestions for improvement.
I am also flexible as to times and places. I am comfortable in libraries (public libraries or at Lamar) although I will consider other arrange" less...
