I have experience as an in-person tutor, ranging from grade school through college. Currently, I tutor two siblings, ages 9 and 10, while working as their nanny. My experience spans a variety of settings, which has taught me how to tailor my approach to fit each student's individual learning style.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Alabama in 2009. I spent three years conducting independent research and wrote a book on early 19th-century gravestone carvers, which is still used as a teaching aid in the Anthropology in Cemeteries course at the university. My research was also published in Alabama Heritage Magazine.
I tutor in English, writing, math, science, and anthropology. I feel comfortable assisting in a wide range of subjects to help meet my students' needs. Writing is my favorite subject to tutor because it's a personal passion of mine. I love the creative process and the power that writing has to inspire and communicate ideas. If I can help someone else get excited about writing, that makes the world go round.
I take a fun, laid-back approach to teaching. Understanding new concepts can be challenging and frustrating, so I believe in making the learning process as easy and enjoyable as possible. This helps students feel more relaxed and engaged, which ultimately leads to better learning outcomes." less...
