"I've taught high school American and World history for 33+ years. You could say I am a "pro". I am not going to say "I'm a pro" because as a veteran certified teacher of the state of Mississippi, you know that "learning" is a continuous journey. I am not going to say "I'm a pro" because as a veteran certified teacher of the state of Mississippi, you know that "learning" is a continuous journey. I have enjoyed my journey in imparting knowledge and would love to work with students (especially those that HATE history), to experience the "joy" of it all--through understanding. This means they don't have to take the American History course in college. Students in my classes have been successful with state testing, as well, for United States History. I am patient, and will go to great lengths to make sure that I prepare lessons for those that I tutor that will meet the state, or college requirement that the student is schedule to master. I am retired, but my "teacher certification" license for the state has not expired.
My ability to "meet-a student-where-they-are", and create an environment whereby they do not feel ashamed, overwhelmed, or anxious. As a teacher, I work to create a comfortable environment, with a "team" spirit. This is the same spirit that I would bring to the tutorial sessions. It's okay to be "wrong", it's okay to be "right". I just want you to learn. My classroom was and my tutorial sessions will be a "safe zone" for learning".
Dr. Seuss authored a book called "Come Over to My House!". At each house the child learned something. My kids loved that book. In the spirit of that book I'm asking students that need a tutor to come over to my site, come over and learn!! Let's get whatever you need done, DONE!" less...
