"For the last 20 years I have been working in education, first as an elementary school teacher, then as a tutor for at risk youth in a wide variety of subjects from English to Pre-Calculus. More recently, I have been working as a tutor in a local community college. I teach students with different learning challenges using a wide range of techniques and strategies. I specialize in math (up to pre calculus) and science (earth science, basic biology, basic chemistry, physics) and project based learning. I assist students in brain storming and organizing their thoughts to prepare an action plan when tackling presentations, projects and term papers.

I like helping students break down math into simple steps and I do understand not every student likes or understands math. I provide encouragement and follow up to help students achieve their math goals. I have tutored elementary and middle school math as well as PreAlgebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. I also realize female and minority students are under represented in STEM and apply unique strategies to help them feel comfortable with the subject with out being condescending.

I understand many students might not understand science and different teachers have different assignments. Some teachers just want the students to memorize facts and formula's, while others just assign a project and want the student to complete it. I have taught elementary and middle school science, biology, chemistry, and physics.
