"I am most recently a retired Server Admin supporting staff and students at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. I have done similar work for Cleveland State University, as well as in a consulting capacity. I have experience teaching Continuing Education classes at CSU and Cuyahoga Community College, specializing in Microsoft Office, database application development and computer programming. My students can tell that I love to help them learn. I absolutely enjoy teaching, especially during those wonderful "Ahh Haa" moments when the student knows that they've "got it."
Students often resist math and science because they don't think the subjects have real world relevance. I strive to show how topics like fractions and percentages are used daily by members of the medical field to properly dose medications as well as by truckers to safely balance their loads, how trigonometry is used by carpenters, architects, pilots and road construction crews, how word problems are used by lawyers to explain complex subjects to juries, and how financial investors use linear algebra to make (and sometimes lose) millions.
My real world computer expertise is very useful in helping Computer Certification students master the concepts related to computer software, hardware and networking. And parents who are considering home-schooling their children truly appreciate my assistance in setting up their classrooms." less...
