"After graduating from Boston University with my degree in Elementary Education, life took me on a different path and I found a challenging career in financial services. I embraced my new career and completed my MBA at Suffolk University. Years later, I wanted to begin my teaching career. I started first as a substitute teacher and then as a part-time Fifth Grade ELA teacher at Innovation Academy Charter School. Teaching a single-subject allowed to me to refine my teaching strategies in this curriculum area. I loved connecting with students over books that they enjoyed. Writing can be a daunting challenge for many students and I enjoyed helping them to break the process down into manageable pieces. Learning to write is a way for students to learn to organize and present their thoughts.

Most recently, I worked as a classroom teacher in Westford in Third and Fifth Grades. In this setting, I was able to teach all curriculum areas. Not only was I able to continue connecting with students over their reading and writing, but I also had the opportunity to build confidence in students' math abilities. I liked to present challenges to students - critical thinking problems that pushed them to rely on problem solving and teamwork, rather than just algorithms.

In the classroom, I prided myself on creating a positive, nurturing environment in which students could thrive. As your child's tutor, I aspire to replicate this supportive atmosphere.
