"This is absolutely thrilling to be able to offer theory insights through this medium. I have been teaching music theory to high school and college age students for over thirty years. As an organ major - many years ago - it was suggested that I double major in music theory and composition - a choice and combination that I have loved for communicated for all of these years.

I am a complete believer in theory making performance come ever more and more alive. No matter what level or part of theory you be at, this will be the approach that I use - whether teaching you the value of understanding tendency tones or the intricacies of 18th century counterpoint, your theory work should serve to open your eyes, ears (and yes, even heart!) to an even greater understanding of your musical medium and its specific musical language.

I have taught music theory and history, ear training and composition for over thirty years to high school and college age students. Many of my students have gone on to professional careers in music - a real joy to see. I have also spent these years continuing to develop my own skills through and active performing career that requires me to understand the theory which I teach!
