"Hello, I’m Charles. I am a retired middle school Social Studies teacher (24 years),where I was Dept. Head for many years. I have been an Adjunct Professor in the Secondary Education Dept. at Providence College for the past 20 years. I was the recipient of the 2022 Teaching Excellence for Adjunct Faculty Award. I also served on the R.I. Department of Education’s Standards and Civics Commission Task Force where I was responsible for writing the state’s K-12 standards for Civics, Geography, History, Economics, and Political Science. I am Life certified in all those subjects.

I have an M.A. in Secondary Education/History from the University of Rhode Island, as well as a B.A. in Journalism, and Teaching Certification, also from URI.

I am passionate about History and Geography. I have a reputation for coming up with creative lessons that engage students, teaching them critical thinking skills, improving their writing and persuasive speaking skills, and improving comprehension. I encourage students to be enthusiastic, life-long learners. I enjoy getting to know my students on a personal level, having fun while learning.

I have been a Varsity high school soccer coach and middle school baseball coach, so I understand how to motivate. And, my after-school Service Learning program won multiple national awards. I love music, golf and travel.
