"I began tutoring math 8 years ago in 2015 as soon as I graduated high school. While I went to school for my Bachelor's degree I began tutoring students in middle and high school primarily in math. I have had great success with my students and have been working with some for 6+ years beginning in middle school and sticking with them even into college. I was able to build my client base through word of mouth. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Geology from the University of Florida in 2021. I have continued to tutor as the demand was still high for my services. I've reached the point where a lot of my students have graduated so I have more room in my schedule. On average I'm used to tutoring 20+ students a week.
I began with in-person tutoring where I traveled to the student's home. In 2020 I switched to entirely online tutoring through Zoom. Now I tutor both in-person and online depending on the student's needs. I have expanded my tutoring to cover math and science subjects grades 6 through college. I have a base of students that I regularly meet with twice a week.
My approach is to simplify math concepts into numbered steps that a student can follow so they can be empowered to tackle the questions. Often times students feel disempowered when it comes to math so I know the first step is to build their confidence up. Once they gain confidence through this step-by-step process, it opens the door to further explanation and detail when the student is ready. I always take a kind and easy-going approach to students making mistakes so no stress is involved in the corrections. I'm aware that math skills take time to be developed so I always have extreme patience and confidence that the student will improve over time." less...
