"I earned my B.S. and a Masters, both from North Carolina State University (2001 and 2003). I completed my thesis and other graduate level work under a former president of the Nation Council of Teachers of Mathematics. I have tutored for 25 years, from starting a tutoring program at a local elementary school to tutoring student athletes in the football program at North Carolina State University and basketball program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and from tutoring elementary math to AP Calculus. I taught at New Hanover High School in Wilmington for 9 years including Pre-Algebra, Math 1, Algebra 1, Honors Algebra 2, Math 3, Precalculus, Honors Discrete Math, and Advanced Placement Calculus AB, with 2 years in its rigorous multi-disciplinary, pre-college program called the Lyceum Academy.

I've also worked in finance for a combined 10 years for a small entrepreneurial startup and a large pharmaceutical corporation. I use those invaluable experiences in my tutoring to help motivate how math is useful and helpful in careers beyond the classroom. I will also get to know your student's interests and incorporate those into the tutoring sessions to develop rapport and further motivate learning math.

What makes me different from most tutors is that I make learning math fun, interesting and understandable. I utilize Socratic questioning in helping my students learn.
