"I have been teaching and tutoring since 2018, focusing on biology and ACT/SAT test prep, but I have a wide variety of skills and experience and can teach K-12 lessons in math, English, history, physical science, and general study skills.
I worked as a teaching assistant for an introductory biology course at North Carolina State University from 2020-2022, lecturing and leading lab sections. From 2018-2019, I worked as a one-on-one K-12 tutor at the Huntington Learning Center in Broomfield, CO, and In 2022, I worked as a K-12 tutor for Club Z! Tutoring and Grade Potential Tutoring in Raleigh, NC. I have a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Geology from Washington University in St. Louis with a minor in Archaeology, and I recently completed my Master's of Science in Biology at North Carolina State University. My academic experience is largely focused on the natural sciences, but I am also a capable writer and I have a solid foundation in the humanities.
My past students have ranged in age from kindergarten to adult, with most of my experience centered around high school and college students. I have experience teaching students with both physical and learning disabilities, including blindness, autism, and ADHD. I have taught in the classroom, one-on-one, online synchronous, and online asynchronous contexts, and am equally comfortable across all of these formats. My teaching approach adapts to the needs of the student. Some students prefer lesson reviews where I explain a concept with examples or visuals and the student can ask follow-up questions. Other students prefer practice problems with the guided review. Often, I like to incorporate a variety of approaches to see what the student responds to best. My goal is to provide a judgment-free environment where I can help students achieve their goals and feel confident in their own abilities moving forward." less...
