"I am American born but lived and worked abroad where much of my life was spent in international business. I was a sales and customer service director which required excellent written and verbal skills. My second area of expertise was training customer service and sales staffs. This ultimately led to me becoming an Oxford certified ESL/TEFL/TOEFL instructor. It was a natural evolution in my career and it ties in to my corporate training experience.

I love to teach. A class needs to include the students as well as information about customs and societal expectations including the do's and don'ts of how to approach Americans. One of the biggest challenges in teaching written and spoken English is that, "less is more." Americans are direct and want the information presented clearly, concisely and free from fluff which other cultures may consider abrupt or impolite. In the United States time is money and you have to get to the point if you want to have the attention of your listener/reader. This does not mean one can actually be impolite it just means you have to be careful with the amount of information you disseminate to your audience and how you present it." less...
