"Hello! My name is Marissa Patton, and I am a tutor of English and Writing. I am currently an English professor with a Master's degree in English and Writing Certificate which I obtained in May 2021. I have taught English Composition at a local college for the past 4 years and teach Writing and Research at one other local college. I currently tutor a 7th grader and a 9th grader in Language Arts and college students at my local college. As your tutor, you can expect me to be reliable, have a flexible schedule, and to tutor with energy and enthusiasm! I enjoy working with students at various levels of learning from middle school to college. Tutoring provides a way for me to practice what I have learned by sharing it with others.

I began tutoring when I went to High School and occasionally helped my peers in class at Bakersfield College and CSUB between 2014 and 2021. From 2018-2019 I was a teacher resident at a local high school and taught 9th grade and 11th grade English.

My qualifications are the following:

Bachelor's of Arts degree in Communications, Masters in English with 160 units/credits and 4.0 GPA, Member of multiple honor societies (Sigma Tua Delta, Alpha Chi, Alpha Sigma Pi, and Lambda Pi Eta) and scholarship recipient.

From being an instructional aide to teaching college composition, I have a broad spectrum of tutoring skills. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA in all of my English studies and have studied a variety of subjects from Shakespeare to rhetoric and criticism.
