"Hola, I'm Liz! I am a highly qualified Spanish teacher with 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring students ranging from first graders to adults. I work with beginner, intermediate, and advanced level Spanish learners.
My passion for Spanish began in high school after a summer service learning trip to Argentina. I became enamored with Argentina's culture, people, and language, and was excited to continue traveling and learning Spanish in college. At Davidson College, I majored in Spanish, spent a semester in Spain, and worked for the Davidson Spanish Department as an Assistant Teacher (AT). As an AT, I tutored several college students in Spanish and was encouraged to pursue a career in teaching by one of my professors.
Following college, I received a Master's degree in Spanish from Middlebury College through their renowned language school in Spain. After living for a year in Madrid, Spain, my Spanish skills reached a non-native fluency level, and I had a deep and meaningful appreciation for Spanish culture and literature. In addition to preparing me to become a Spanish teacher, I am also confident in my ability to serve as a literature tutor thanks to Middlebury's focus on Hispanic literature and literary analysis.
More recently, I spent the past four years teaching middle and high school Spanish, and I have also worked a bit in elementary school Spanish immersion classrooms. Last year, I tutored an adult student once a week to prepare her for her upcoming move to Ecuador.
As a personal tutor, you can count on me to be supportive, organized, and patient. I love thinking of creative ways to help students better understand grammar concepts, remember vocabulary, and analyze literature.
I am flexible and will adapt my teaching methods to fit your needs. Please contact me with any questions or to set up your Spanish tutoring session!" less...
