"I've been tutoring math for more than twenty years, starting when I was in high school tutoring my classmates. I'm the child of two math teachers, so I've always had a good head for higher math. I made it all the way through Calculus 3 and Differential Equations in high school, all the while keeping up my skill in other maths by working as a tutor for Algebra I and II and Geometry.
With all of my math experience, my degrees are in language arts. I have a BA in Theatre with a concentration in playwriting, and an MFA in playwriting, and I'm currently working as an instructor for Rhetoric, teaching college students how to write papers and analyze literature.
I have been learning Algebra since my math teacher mom gave me simple problems to do to keep me quiet as a seven year old in church. I was accelerated in math when I hit junior high, and finished Algebra I, II, and Geometry by the time I finished eighth grade. I've tutored off and on since then, and I'm able to explain the concepts in everyday language that isn't too heavy with math jargon.
I have two degrees that focus on writing, and it's something I do creatively every day. I've been teaching writing in various forms for the past five years, and have recently focused on essay writing and grammar for college- age students.
I'm a personable instructor who can teach you individual subjects or help with overall prep on the SAT or ACT. I'm good at adjusting my teaching style to fit your particular way of learning, and I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!" less...
