He got his Bachelor of Science degree in 2011, majoring in Geology and double minoring in Physics and Mathematics. He got his Master of Science degree in 2014 for his geologic research on the mineralogy of the mantle of Mars.
His approach to tutoring is to work through problems step-by-step, making sure that everything is understood at the current step of the problem before moving onto the next step. For more abstract concepts, he likes to use visual aids like interactive graphs to be able to see what equations actually mean. For example, a parameterized curve or surface can be hard to visualize for the first time, but being able to show it by plugging in the parameterizations into graphing software and showing what happens when different values are changed helps make tougher concepts more intuitive. He especially likes visualizing vector fields and flow paths.
While Zach is relatively new to Wyzant, he is experienced tutoring integral and differential calculus as well as both algebra-based and calculus based physics on another tutoring platform. Students have come away from lessons with a better understanding of the material, and say that, "things started to click." He has been rated highly by his students. Here are some examples:
5/5: "I learned a lot! This will help me very much with my homework and tests in the future." -Andrew, 2024/02/05
5/5: "Zach was great and effectively explained the topics." -Eleni, 2024/02/01
5/5: "Very organized and went step by step with me. Broke down all of the problems I had to make them easy to understand." -Daryn, 2024/02/01" less...
