"My name is Zev, and I am currently an undergraduate student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute studying Physics. Having spent many hours studying physics and math, I can understand the frustration that comes with learning these subjects. However, something I’ve realized is that STEM subjects are always more manageable when you collaborate with others. My physics professor once said that the best way to understand difficult topics is to argue, discuss, and work together to truly grasp the concepts that define these subjects. With this in mind, my tutoring method is based on discussing with the student and steering them into conceptual revelations through real applications and familiar ideas. These conceptual foundations will assist the student with logically constructing efficient ways of solving problems.
My experience in mathematics and physics includes everything from elementary math to differential equations as well as top scores (5’s) in AP Calculus and both AP Physics C courses. I have also successfully tutored Algebra 2 and SAT math using a one-on-one approach which includes teaching new material and developing well established foundational skills. Specifically, my tutoring approach involves introducing topics through discussion and conceptual understanding which then moves into assisted problem solving. Once the student feels comfortable, I give them time to practice on their own in order for the student to develop a sense of independence in solving problems.
I understand that all students learn differently, so if there are any topics, resources, or suggestions that a student or parent would like to talk about, I will be happy to discuss and come up with a plan." less...
