"Hi everyone!
I am a current undergraduate student taking classes at Collin Community College and Trinidad State Junior College. I am working on getting a Bachelor’s in Cellular Molecular Biology. I am also hoping to start working on obtaining my Clinical Medical Assisting Certificate (CCMA) and moving onto Surg Tech and Surgical Assisting Licensure's. My end goal is to be a Physician’s Assistant focusing on Emergency Medicine and Surgery. I have received my associate’s in general science as well.
I have previously tutored in high school with my main focus being math and science. I am open to tutoring high school, middle school, and elementary age students. I also have five younger siblings ranging from 6-18 so I am well rounded with all age groups! I do not plan to teach, but my dream job before entering the medical field was teaching so I would love to continue to be able to pursue this opportunity.
I would say that my tutoring styles involve very hands on lessons. I truly believe that in order to maintain a thorough grasp of a concept you must “touch” the material 18 times. This includes flash cards, matching assignments, fill in the blanks, labeling, color coding, example questions etc. I have a very hard time learning through just reading a textbook and taking notes so I like to focus on other ways that material can be incorporated.
As a current college student I am always learning better ways to teach and learn, and I am constantly practicing the material that I teach. I believe that learning can be fun when you are learning successfully as no one likes to do poorly, and I would like to allow others the opportunity to feel this.
Having all of the siblings that I do, I know that everyone has different learning styles, and some activities work better than others for certain students. I take this into consideration with all of the people that I tutor as I know that what works for me might not work for them. My main goal is to adapt to each students learning style and cater lessons to each individual." less...
