"I have a Masters degree in a specialized Chemical Engineering discipline with an emphasis in mathematical modeling. I worked as an engineer in a paper mill, as a director of research for a industry group, was a middle and high school teacher, and have been a tutor for many years. My tutoring experience ranges over many subjects and age groups but I have been most effective with math, science and college test preparation.

My style is to engage with the student and find the desire to learn and excel. I am not a disciplinarian. If the student's problem is more of a behavioral issue I may not be the best choice. But if the issue lies with an inability to grasp the subject I excel at finding alternative means of exploring the subject to create true understanding by the student.

I taught in middle school, high school and community college as a math instructor. I specially excel at explaining subjects the student often finds hard to understand or ones they fail to see why it is necessary to learn. I even performed tutoring for Alternative Certification Centers to assist prospective teachers in acquiring math certifications and to pass math requirements to obtain their teaching credentials.

If your goal is to catch up or to go even farther ahead I can find ways to assist. I am able to determine the level of the student and tailor material to increase command of the subject matter. If the student just doesn't understand it the way it is taught in class, I can find a way to show the material that will create increased insight to the material. I also coached several UIL academic areas and am well versed in test taking strategies and techniques to help students at any level increase their test scores.
