"You can benefit from my zealous love of math. And I know that math is not most people's cuppa tea. (What a boring world that would be!) I believe educational endeavors are partnerships that center around human connections. I customize my approach using their interests and strengths, rather than focusing on the challenges from the start. By making this connection with others, I have found that I learn so much from teaching. Teaching and learning are inextricably intertwined.
Tutoring math has been a passion of mine since I was a child (10 years old). I always helped my friends in school, and I volunteer tutored at various times throughout the years. I have over 4 years experience teaching high school math as a licensed teacher in North Carolina. I have the most experience teaching Algebra 2, Geometry, and AP Statistics (intro stats courses are essentially the same), and I also taught Algebra 1 and Precalculus. I worked as an engineer prior to becoming a teacher, so I can often relate how certain concepts are used in the “real world.” I also earned a Master's degree in statistics. I would be happy to send my resume and references.
On a more personal note, I love travel, tennis, and reading. I look forward to hearing from you to see if there is a match between your needs and my skills. If you are looking here for a tutor, a course may not be going well. However, I have seen over and over that a small amount of individual attention can make a large difference in progress: both attitude and achievement. Best of luck!" less...
