"My goal is to help you to understand math as well as you need to or as well as you want to.
Math has always been my passion. I am currently a Mathnasium instructor. My tutoring experience ranges from helping a 4th grader gain confidence in his mathematical ability, to helping high school math team students understand how to solve competition problems. My tutoring philosophy focuses on trying to figure out what the student is thinking when they encounter a difficult problem, help guide their thinking and if an idea they come up with doesn’t work for the current problem, explain how it might work for a similar problem. I like providing helpful clues if a student is unsure of their approach. My objective is to build my students’ confidence in their problem-solving abilities.
My achievements in High School Mathematics include 790 on the Math SAT, 5’s on the AP calculus AB/BC exam and 7 on IB statistics. I graduated with a Math and Computer Science double major from St. Olaf College and excelled in College math classes including Multivariable Calculus, Complex Analysis and Computational Geometry. Additionally, I have been admitted to several prestigious math camps which exposed me to uncommonly taught mathematical topics.Whether you are struggling or a student who loves being challenged, I will teach you with patience, kindness and hopefully impart my love for mathematical ideas.
If you prefer tutoring in person, we can meet at no additional charge at my home or a public library in Federal Way to avoid a travel upcharge (please contact me for details.)" less...
