"Hi, I’m Halle! I'm a passionate math tutor with a solid educational background and years of teaching experience. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and am certified to teach math for grades 7-12. Currently, I’m pursuing a master's degree in STEM Education at UT Austin.
For the past five years, I worked as a high school math teacher, primarily teaching algebra 1 and geometry. My teaching philosophy is rooted in a student-centered approach, where students are actively engaged in hands-on activities and encouraged to think critically. I emphasize the importance of asking questions and making mistakes as vital parts of learning.
During my teaching career, I worked with many students who were behind in their math skills. By focusing on building their confidence and starting from what they already knew, I helped them catch up and excel. I’m committed to the idea that everyone is capable of learning and growing in mathematics, and I strive to instill that belief in all my students. I bring a similar approach to tutoring by creating an environment where students can make mistakes, ask questions, and feel confident in their ability to grow.
I’ve primarily worked with high school students, ages 14-18, but I also have experience with middle school students, ages 12-14. I have experience with math content ranging from 8th grade math through calculus. Whether in a classroom setting or in personalized tutoring sessions, my goal is to help students build a strong foundation in math and develop the confidence to tackle even the most challenging problems." less...
