"My name is Dan! I recently completed my Ph.D. in mathematics from UMass Amherst where I was a classroom instructor for six years. I was the lecturer for courses on calculus and linear algebra and was a teaching assistant for a wide variety of courses that any math undergraduate student might take. While I spent much of my time lecturing in the classroom, I found the most effective strategy is having students work through problems so that they can come to an understanding of the concepts being covered in class.

My favorite part of teaching was office hours, where one to three students came to my office and we were able to focus on what they were struggling with. Teaching in this one on one or small group setting was much more enjoyable for me and educational for the students. I typically ask questions of my students so I can identify what their understanding is and what I can help with.

I hope to hear from you soon and if you have any questions for me, please feel welcome to reach out." less...
