"I'm Mark! I graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in 2015. I also earned a master's degree in math from UNI in 2017. In 2023 I earned my PhD in mathematics from Indiana University (IU). I spent a year as an assistant math professor at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) in Maryland and recently moved back to Bloomington.

At UNI, I worked as a math tutor for 4 years, serving college students for all undergraduate math courses and earning certification by the National Tutoring Association. I tutored students 1-on-1 and in group settings. At IU I taught undergrad math courses (finite math, college algebra) and tutored students 1-on-1. At AACC, I taught undergrad math courses (precalculus, calculus, college algebra) and met with students regularly for 1-on-1 and group office hour sessions.

I love math and I believe anyone can become a "math person". When I teach, I always try to be engaging and to get the students involved. I tailor learning experiences to fit particular students' needs and I aim to give students ample opportunity for hands on practice." less...
