"I bring a unique blend of academic background and practical teaching experience that I believe will benefit students seeking clarity and understanding in their subjects. My journey in academia began at UC Davis, where I pursued a degree in neurobiology. I aim to leverage my educational background as well as my past tutoring experience to help students excel in their subjects.
My passion for teaching emerged during my time at Encinal High School, where I assisted my peers with mathematics. During that experience, I went around the classroom helping students with assignments and after-school exercises. This made me comfortable communicating with different people to address their specific needs. Over the course of a year, I helped fellow high school students with courses ranging from Algebra 1 to Precalculus. This experience not only solidified my understanding of mathematical principles but also instilled in me a sense of fulfillment in guiding others towards academic success.
Since my senior year at UC Davis, I’ve started tutoring local high school and community college students at the Alameda Public Library. All of my sessions were 1 on 1 as that ensured my clients the comfort to receive the help they needed. I heavily relied on the student’s course material to explain the concepts in my own way, often relating those concepts to real life situations. I found out from experience that students are much more motivated to learn if they can clearly understand how the concepts can be applied in real life.
Main aspect of my teaching philosophy revolves around simplifying complex ideas by breaking them down into relatable, real-world examples. Whether it's illustrating mathematical functions through the metaphor of a cupcake machine or linking chemical reactions to everyday phenomena, I strive to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for these subjects among my students." less...
