"I am a graduate of MIT (Engineering) and The University of Chicago (MBA). I am a problem-solver, and I thoroughly enjoy coaching and teaching others. I am a 99th percentile test taker (SAT and GMAT) who has helped students across a wide range of subjects and standardized tests. Many of my students have scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT, GMAT, and LSAT, and gained acceptance to some of the best undergraduate and graduate programs in the country.
My teaching experience includes test prep classes for both the SAT and the GMAT, individual tutoring, and part-time High School teaching. I also have extensive experience working with K-12 students in Math, English, Social Studies and the Sciences. My educational background includes a great deal of Math and Science. Throughout my professional career I have enhanced my reading and writing skills, which has allowed me to help students with several AP courses, SAT and GMAT verbal, LSAT Critical Reasoning, and college application essays.
I am comfortable with many different teaching styles; I try to find the best fit for each of my students. My goal is always to deliver a level of understanding, not just get the student to the right answer for a given problem. For example, when working with a student on critical writing, it is important to teach them an approach, a framework, which they can easily repeat... on the next assignment, or the AP exam, or their college essays.
Similarly, in Math and Science, it is critical to gain an understanding of the underlying concepts and principles in order to apply them in different situations. Often, upon successful completion of a problem, I will ask a student, "Ok, but what if this part of the problem were slightly different... how would you approach it?"
In summary, there are many different subject areas in which I can help. Feel free to reach out with any questions, or to schedule a lesson!" less...
