"I believe that learning math should be a positive experience. I love math because it is a subject that allows you to figure things out using critical thinking skills. It is a good opportunity to develop better strategies and become an effective problem solver. I have over 30 years of experience teaching math in the classroom and tutoring students one-on-one. I have a Master's degree in math education and have served on many math curriculum writing committees. I know how to make math meaningful and easy to understand through hands-on activities and real-world situations. My focus is always on understanding concepts rather than simply knowing how to get the answers. I enjoy teaching students of all ages from elementary to high school, helping them to make connections to previous learning. I have helped struggling students succeed, but frequently, my students are high-achieving students who want to get ahead and prepare for upcoming courses. I have prepared students to take the COGAT test and the ISEE test to get accepted into gifted programs and private schools. I excel at assessing students' strengths and weaknesses and increasing skill levels and confidence. I currently tutor students in person in the Richardson, Plano, Allen, Frisco, and McKinney areas." less...
