"Hello, My name is Sarah and I am currently a teacher at a small Catholic school in Minnesota. I teach Spanish, technology, and one section of pre-algebra. I have been teaching and tutoring for many years now. I especially love helping students think through and strategize their way to success. I have had the pleasure of working with students from many age groups– kindergarteners to college students.
I try to use my non-standard educational history to my advantage to think of new solutions to common problems. I was homeschooled from 3rd grade to high school and then took classes at a community college in the PSEO program. I completed two bachelor’s degrees, one in Spanish and the other in chemistry with a minor in mathematics. After that I completed a master of science in chemistry. In addition to my current teaching post, I have taught in Gifted and Talented summer enrichment programs, a community college, and tutored.
In short, I have been in school a very long time, but I still remember what it was like when I didn’t feel the directions were clear, when the assignment seemed overwhelming, or when I just couldn’t understand how to do “it”. My point is this--I understand the frustration of not understanding something that is so easy for other people. I will not give up.
