"Hi, I'm Nick! I am a passionate tutor with experience in teaching a wide array of topics in mathematics and statistics, from basic Algebra I and intro-level stats to calculus and SAT/GRE math prep. I have an M.S. in Statistics and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and I have tutored independently, tutored via mentorship programs as a college student and most recently, served as a teaching assistant and tutor as a grad student the past 2 years. I know firsthand the struggle of doing difficult math problems as a former struggling and unmotivated student. That's why I know and appreciate the value of high-quality teaching and motivation for students, particularly in math.
I believe in giving an intuitive understanding of the ideas beneath each problem rather than just churning out exercises without considering what's going on under the hood. In my experience, this leads to a better and more generalizable ability to do well in math, rather than just being able to "brute force" your way to solve some problems with no idea what the point of it all is or why anything worked the way it worked. In this way, I'm confident I can deliver the right solution (no pun intended) for the student's math help needs.
I want to benefit the students I teach as much as possible, so I welcome any feedback or requests from the students or parents so we can see constant improvement. I am easy to reach and always provide quick responses. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with additional questions or to arrange a session!" less...
