"I am currently a Special Education Math teacher at the high school level. Previously, I was a member of the Child Study Team at a high school who supported students who were struggling academically. Prior to that role, I was an 8th grade math teacher who taught PreAlgebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Honors classes. In addition to teaching, I also have been coaching high school girls soccer for 8+ years. I have many years of tutoring experience and love having the opportunity to help students succeed.
I like to put math in simple terms and relate it to every day life. I feel that many math teachers use terminology and examples that make it confusing for students. In my experience, once a student is confused, they will continue on that path unless someone intervenes. I hope to be that someone who can create the "aha" moment!
As a licensed LDT-C and teacher of students with disabilities, I am well educated in interventions and strategies for helping students in this population. Often times, it is a matter of helping a student find a system that works best for them that they feel they can maintain.
Please reach out to me if you are struggling in the areas of PreAlgebra, Algebra, or Geometry, or if you need assistance with organization and study skills." less...
