"I hold a PhD in mathematics from the University of Michigan. I've spent the past ten years as a math educator and curriculum writer, where I've taught at both the high school and college levels. I love math because I believe it's so fair: everyone can learn to be successful at it. I've taught classes of all sizes, from 6 students up to almost 200. One of the things I find to be most rewarding, is working with students individually during office hours or tutoring sessions to improve their grades and grow their math confidence.
Learning math is like learning to play a sport or a musical instrument. I believe that to understand math, you really need to do math. During a typical tutoring session, we'll work on lots of examples together. I'll walk you through an example to begin with and then we'll explore together what you're able to do. I'll be there with you every step of the way with hints and guidance and we'll spot patterns together of how to tackle particular types of problems, but it'll never be you just receiving all the answers from me. Everyone's journey of understanding math and getting great grades looks different. No matter where your starting point is, I'm excited to meet you where you are and for us to build together from there.
Let's work as a team towards your math goals! Please contact me to schedule our first session together, or if you have any questions for me before that, please don't hesitate to reach out :)." less...
