"My name is Min, and I study electrical and computer engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. I've got a perfect score in SAT math (800), got numerous state-level awards for mathematics competitions (UIL), and qualified for AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Examination).
During college and high school, I've seen many people who "gave up" on math. I believe that's because they had a period in their life when they learned math but did not understand it. Since math is building on each other, one missing foundation can lead to hardships in the future. I've seen many people, even in universities, with weaknesses in math studying engineering. My goal is to bridge the gap for those who "gave up" on math and provide an advanced understanding of math for those who are already good at it.
I have previously tutored my classmates from high school to university. My method is more interactive and about understanding the math. It's more about igniting the passion and realizing the beauty of math. It's more about learning how to see the world using math, and getting some insights people don't see. Therefore, I would ask many questions for the student and try to provide the student with "A-ha" moments, when they realize the knowledge themselves rather than passively listening to other people.
My audience of teaching is from middle schoolers to university students, and I've been teaching around 200 hours for those people. I've primarily taught one-on-one since I believe that's the best way to learn. In this setting, I've taught regular math subjects such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and many more. I've also taught competition math such as AMC, math-related UIL competitions, and standardized tests such as the SAT." less...
