"I would want the students to work hard, go through the class notes, chapters that he/she going to be tutored. It would let me know that students are interested in learning. I cannot solve all the problems, but I would try to help concentrate the students on how to solve problems without solving it. It sounds weird, but the technique to solve any math questions is understanding the questions, learning what the questions is trying to say, and finally solving it. The focus of student should be mostly on identifying the logic behind the problems, because students tends to follow one certain rule/criteria and if the another questions does not have the same rule then they struggle to solve it.

Solving Problems is always not easy. It takes time and dedications. You have to put effort. Just taking lot of tuitions won't solve. Sometimes the problems are very difficult to solve in that case I would make them understand the logic and try to solve them in my free time and give them solutions next time I met. I would basically make the students understand the basics since the basics are the foundation to solve bigger problems in math. I would want students to : 1) Send me the chapters - at least a day ahead. 2) Questions needs time to solve, so if you expect me to solve all your assignment questions without you understanding, then I am not the right person. 3) If you have assignment questions you can send me a day ahead so that I can be prepared and teach you properly. 4) If you want to learn Calculus II and you do not know basic Algebra please do not waste your time and money. 5) Please bring your class notes, book, pen, scratch paper with you." less...
