"I'm Johnny and I have experience as a guest lecturer and supplemental instructor for Calculus II/III at San Jacinto College, University of Houston (Clear Lake), and Texas State. I have also taught Programming Fundamentals (C++) and Linear Algebra at the college level. I received the Louis & Stokes Minority Participation Scholarship to fund my undergraduate courses, and was recently accepted to St. Edward's University to continue working towards a Ph. D. in Mathematics. I have been teaching for over 15 years while running over 7 learning centers across the Texas area. We utilized a lecture-style classroom that included 3 students per instructor. I always started by reteaching the concept from scratch to ensure the student receives a refresher on the material and then use guided examples to build a complete set of notes. I found that this gave my students an opportunity to retry their problems on their own and most would find it easier to do with only occasional assistance from me on the tougher questions.
The pandemic allowed me an opportunity to shift back to school, but I enjoy teaching too much to give it up completely. I specialize in teaching Physics, Chemistry, and Calculus; I retained all the assignments from the local AustinISD, RRISD, and EanesISD over the years so I have a compendium of resources. Since I have the ability to reserve study rooms at St. Edward's and University of Texas (Austin), I am able to use these spaces free of distraction to assist my students. I look forward to hearing from new students and assisting in any way that I can, so feel free to reach out to me for additional information/questions!" less...
