"My name is Casey and I just joined Wyzant a couple moths ago! I am currently a medical student in the MD/PhD program (MSTP) at Duke University School of Medicine. I previously graduated with magna cum laude honors from UCLA with a degree in Physiological Science. Before medical school, I also performed wet lab research at Stanford University, where our team published many papers developing key breakthroughs in cardiovascular disease pathology.

Throughout my educational journey, I have tutored many students in a variety of capacities and enjoyed sharing what I have learned to propel students through their coursework, exams, and standardized tests, while also instilling a fun, creative learning environment personalized to their needs and strengths. I have tutored and mentored many students 1-on-1 in their pre-medical coursework and in the MCAT, sharing my strategies, tips, and study schedule with students who have gone on to succeed on the MCAT. I have also worked independently as an English, Math, Science, and Reading tutor for high school students as well as through nonprofit volunteer organizations such as Project READ, America Reads America Counts, and Student U to advance students’ abilities in these subjects.

What sets me apart from other tutors is my personable nature and relational approach to learning. I like to make the content fun, interesting, and related to things you might like, such as sports, music, movies, etc. This can help you retain information better and make connections to everyday life experiences.
