"Hello! My name is Niloy and I graduated from Duke University in 2013 with degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Music (violin performance) and from the Texas Tech School of Medicine in 2020 with my MD. Immediately following graduation, I taught High School Chemistry Teacher as a part of Teach for America. During my time in the corps, I taught HS chemistry at Sharpstown HS in Houston ISD, a school that was the subject of "Dropout Nation", an episode in PBS's documentary series "Frontline". While at Sharpstown, I taught a wide range of chemistry classes, including ESL Chemistry, on-level, honors, and AP. During this time, my AP Chemistry students were the first to pass the exam at the school in over 20 years. Additionally, I assisted students with SAT prep and college planning through Houston ISD's EMERGE Fellowship, served as a PowerUP Teacher Leader (one of only 40 teachers district-wide) to implement technology in public schools, and received year-end ratings in the top 5% of teachers district-wide.
Aside from teaching at Sharpstown, I also have worked as a tutor for the past 10+ years. Topics have ranged anywhere from sciences (chemistry, biology, physics) to mathematics (elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, algebra II, trigonometry, precalculus) and foreign language (Spanish). I enjoy working with students, but most of all am passionate about seeing students grow and achieve their full potential.
Additionally, I have taken and excelled on many standardized examinations over the course of my academic career:
