"My name's Yasser and I'm here to help you achieve your highest goals. As a fully funded MD/PhD candidate, I've excelled in a broad range of collegiate subjects. Previously, I earned my B.S. and B.A. across three majors (Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Anthropology) at the University of Washington in Seattle. Since then, I've built a strong background in STEM, research, the arts, and teaching.
My background is vast and holistic. I scored in the 90th+ percentile on the MCAT, with 99th-percentile scores in the Biology and CARS sections of the exam. My ACT score was in the 90th+ percentile, and I scored a perfect 5 out of 5 on both the AP Physics Mechanics exam and the AP Music Theory exams. I have been included in several research publications already, including one in Science Advances.
As of 2024, I have over 300 hours of tutoring experience, teaching primarily high school and collegiate subjects, including biology, English, biochemistry, music theory, algebra, calculus, and physics. I've also had great success guiding students through their college and medical school applications, including 50 hours of essay prep tutoring.
I have a unique approach to tutoring that I've found improves scores, maintains motivation, and helps you find your career niche. I highlight and target areas where you struggle, but I also emphasize your strengths. As a brief example, some students don't necessarily struggle with content; they simply "freeze" when confronted with a question (i.e. they know the information, but don't know how to apply it); or vice versa. I excel in identifying such barriers to success to draw out your full potential.
Together, we will (a) identify high-yield gaps of knowledge and fill them, (b) practice with a custom-made lesson plan, and (c) prepare you holistically for exams by tracking and reviewing your progress over time.
Learning is a lifelong journey, but it doesn't have to be hard all the time. It would be my privilege to make it easier for you." less...
