"My name is Andy and I am a current resident physician who is passionate about coaching, mentoring, and academic success. I possess a Medical Degree from the State University of New York as well as a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Santa Clara University with an emphasis in Biomedical Sciences. When not spending time with patients, I find fulfillment in mentoring and tutoring pre-med and medical students who share similar academic challenges and who are looking for support to become a better life-long learning.
My venture into mentorship and academic coaching traces back to my high school years at an academically rigorous institution in NYC. Serving as a peer tutor, I discovered a passion for teaching and assisting others in navigating academic obstacles across all different subjects, including Algebra and Pre-calculus, Biology and Chemistry, Latin and Creative writing to name a few. This experience taught me the value of recognizing diverse approaches to studying, writing, and academics. Effectiveness as a teacher and tutor, I learned, requires adapting one's communication style to the unique needs of each individual.
My commitment to mentorship continued at the university level, where I participated in the honors college as a peer mentor. Here I specialized as a tutor for pre-medical students aspiring to pursue various healthcare fields, including nursing, physician assistant, medical, and veterinary school.
In summary, I am dedicated to helping students discover individually tailored strategies. By facilitating a deep understanding of complex concepts, and breaking them down into simpler sizeable chunks of knowledge my aim is to empower them as inquisitive thinkers, translating to success in their coursework." less...
