"Hi, I'm Kathryn! I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with my Bachelor's degree in Biology and Anthropology, then worked as a molecular biochemist before attending medical school. I am a recent medical school graduate with one year of surgical residency experience and am currently participating in a medical education and research program.
While in college I discovered my love for teaching as a math and science tutor in local middle schools, and also volunteered at an elementary morning reading program. I was hired as a teaching assistant for biological laboratory sciences at the collegiate level, and was a formal mentor to junior students throughout medical school. As a doctor I feel that one of my most important jobs is clear and effective communication with my patients to help them make the best decisions for themselves possible. In my current role as Medical Educator and Researcher I focus on adult education and learning techniques to meet my students where they are and ensure they are as successful as they can be.
Through these experiences, I have developed a deep appreciation for learning and education and find a lot of joy in helping others feel the same. In my long career as a student, I found that I learned best in a collaborative environment and when my own instructors were as invested in my success as I was. My best teachers have been those that spent the time to listen to me and understand where I am coming from in my learning journey, and I strive to emulate them in my teaching style. Whether you are an elementary or middle school student working on improving foundational math, science, and reading concepts, or on a pre-health journey trying to hone more advanced biology, physiology, or research skills, I have been there and I want you to succeed. Please feel free to reach out with any specific questions or to schedule your first session!" less...
