I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, finishing with a 3.60 GPA in Engineering courses. This provides me with a strong foundation for the subjects that I aim to tutor on Wyzant. I am also a licensed educator in MA, with one year of experience teaching high school Physics at various levels, including basic, Honors, and AP courses. During this time, I have developed a deep understanding of subject matter and the ability to differentiate instruction based on individual needs. I also have one year of experience as an independent Physics and Math tutor. Tutoring students say that I’m “knowledgeable and flexible,” and that they “wouldn’t hesitate to recommend” me.

During the summer, I work with disadvantaged students as part of a STEM program. This develops my ability to motivate students through enrichment, providing instruction in Physics and Math as part of engaging projects (model rockets, anyone?).

I use various approaches to cater to different learning styles. Students need to be attentive before they can be motivated, so I begin lessons with exciting demos and build cultural relevance into lessons to create a supportive learning environment where students feel like they are heard and are comfortable participating. I extend beyond answering questions by guiding understanding through reciprocal questioning, fostering independent critical thinking skills. I also relate material to the real-world so that students understand why they are learning subjects and how material can be applied.

In sum, my educational background, and teaching and tutoring experience in Physics, Math, and other STEM subjects have equipped me with the knowledge and skill set to be an effective tutor.
